To be honest, I kind of expected I would. Don't get me wrong, I had a feeling it wasn't gonna be too creative, but wow, it's not creative at all!

This place is so corporate and finitely structured, there's no room to be creative. They basically turned their copywriters into data base management specialists.

If I wanted to push data around accurately and efficiently, I would have been an analyst. But, I'm a writer, dammit! And this job blows!

Well, it looks like it's time for me to make another change in my life. That being, a new job. I gave my notice yesterday, and my boss took it rather well. Which was good, because I felt bad leaving in the middle of the company's transition. Long story for another time.

Anyway, I have to admit, I'm not that excited for this new job. The main reason I took it is because it's a stable job. It's not exactly what I want, but it's gonna be better than where I was at.

Here's the thing about the place I just left, I'm not sure how long they are going to be open. When I mentioned transition earlier, I meant that they are doing some serious downgrading. And my boss asked me to stay along for the ride. He had to make some cut backs, like getting rid of health care and 401K, but he said it'll be good in the long run.

But that was the problem, who knows what's gonna happen in the long run. So, an opportunity knocked on my door and I took it. The main reason I'm not looking forward to it is because it's way out in Naperville. Blah, Naperville.

Oh well, I hope to god it goes well. I will admit I am looking forward to the change. I really don't think that the people I worked with at the other company cared for me too much.

Complaining

I do a lot of complaining on here. I guess I've always used this blog to bitch about things. I don't mind doing it here because I know no one reads it. I also know no one I know reads it so it makes it so much easier.

I haven't been feeling too well lately. Mentally and physically.

The last two girls I made valid attempts to date didn't go so well. Both situations pretty much ended the same way. They weren't ready for a relationship for whatever reason and didn't feel like they should date me. Again, both situations ended with them telling me I'm a nice guy and I'll find someone.

It's not fair. My whole life the girls I like don't like me. And yet, the girls that like me, I don't like. So to be honest, I'm probably just suffering from a bad case of Karma for all those dates I went on and told the girls I wasn't really interested in anything serious.

Ain't life a bitch.

Okay, physically, my stomach has been acting weird. I kept getting hunger pains last week. Like really bad hunger pains that turned into nausea if I didn't eat. So I ate. And the pain stopped. For a couple hours. Then they came back.

I think I have an ulcer. Ugh, I know I shouldn't self diagnose, but that's what I think.

I eat well, so I really don't think it's the food. But… and this is a big but. I've been drinking a lot lately. Shamefully, almost everyday. It's weird because I'll tell myself I'm not gonna drink tonight, and my evenings after work begin well. I eat a healthy meal, I watch a little TV to let the food digest, then I go to the health club. When I get back I sit in front my computer and do a little work for my website, or freelance projects, and that's when I get "thirsty".

I hate admitting this, but it was getting kind of bad.When it was beer I'd go through 6-8 in a couple hours. If it was gin or vodka, 3-4 large glasses with tonic.

Then, I'd wake up, hung over, but still needing to go to work. Which I always did. But, I would down 3-4 ibuprofens, or aspirin, or whatever headache medicine I had in the cupboard. Then I'd go to work and down 2-3 cups of black coffee, then another cup in the afternoon. Then I'd go home and repeat the cycle.

I think it's finally catching up to me. I mean, shit, those three things alone are some of the main things to stay away from when it comes to stomach issues. Alcohol, ibuprofen and coffee. It's a trifecta that happens to be my three favorite vices.

The good thing is, I haven't had a cocktail in two days. I haven't had coffee in two days. I haven't had aspirin or ibuprofen in two days. Maybe it's my imagination. Maybe it's real. But either way, my stomach has been feeling better. I think I need to stop doing this to myself.

Another thing I hate to admit is how depressed the alcohol makes me. I mean I'm sad enough as it is. So, considering that alcohol is a depressant, I really should quite drinking for that fact alone.

I don't know. I guess this post is more of me rambling than complaining. Either way, I need change. In a serious way. I just don't know what to do. I wish one of those girls that I liked would have liked me back. I'm so lonely it sucks. And it doesn't help with everything else. I'm just tired of being alone.

Dating blows. The older I get, the worse I get at it. The last girl I dated I really liked. But I think I showed interest too early. Girls don't like that. Then, another girl I started seeing I tried to not show that much interest, and that didn't work. Well, maybe it worked for her because she didn't want to date me anyway.

I really don't get it. Maybe I just need to be an asshole. Maybe I am too nice. The last girl I dated said that I'm going to make someone very happy. I guess she just didn't want me to make her happy. Oh well.

Okay, so the funny thing about me is that I've never purchased music from iTunes before. Sure I download the free music that looks good, but I never paid for any music.

Call me cheap, but I have other avenues of getting music. No, not bit torrents or stealing from friends. I prefer eMusic or GoMusicNow best because they are far cheaper than any other music site I know.

However, I just found out today that Angels & Airwaves have a new two part album that came out today. So, as usual, I went to my two other favorite downloading sites, but it wasn't available. Now, I could have ran to Best Buy and purchased the physical CDs, but I figured why? Just download it from iTunes. It's faster, easier, and it comes with the CD Booklet.

Needless to say, I like Angels & Airwaves enough to break my tradition and purchase from iTunes. Oh well, I guess all traditions have to end at some time, right?

One high. Two lows.

So, I had a so-so day today and I figured I'd write about it. I guess I can start with the lows first and finish with the high.

First of all, the main low has to do with my love life. Yep, I know, same story as usual. Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl likes boy, boy tries to hard, girl runs away. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Sucks though, I really liked this one. It's been a while since Laura left. Actually, it's been about 14 months. Now, the first few months sucked. Then, things got better. Not good, just better than crappy. I met a couple girls. Crappy online dating of course. Some were okay, most were not. Nothing really seemed to jive, though.

So, I decided to give up on the online thing. Of course, as soon as I did that, someone nice pops up. For purposes of anonymity, we'll call her APB. Yeah, APB was nice. She was different. She was beautiful. Fun. Smart. She was an Art Director. In advertising. I liked that very much. We went to the museum. Went to dinners. It was nice. It was adult. Not perverted adult. More like, I'm 35 years old and this is what a good relationship should be like adult.

Then, she seemed to lose interest. She didn't say anything, I just sensed it. So I emailed her today seeing if she wanted to hang out in the next couple of days. Needless to say, my past two attempts to hang out were shot down, so I figured I'd ask one more time. However, this time, I asked at the end if I was kicking a dead horse.

Well, I was. She politely let me down easily. I mean that seriously. She was always sweet to me. And even in the end, she played her hand with respect. I was bummed though. Like I said before, I really liked her. I enjoyed being with her. I liked our conversations. I liked talking about work, and talking about how crappy clients can be. She understood my daily aggravations. I understood hers. It was nice.

Unfortunately, she's going through what I was going through 14 months ago. She recently got out of a long relationship. I'm sure it's hard for her, and I'm glad she was honest with me. My timing has never been good with the ladies. This was just another example of my bad timing.

Okay, enough about that. Now onto my next low.

My car radio. It's been broken for about a month now. I've been so aggravated not being able to listen to music while driving. So I bought a new one a few weeks ago. Cost me $60 at Best Buy. I bought the cheapest one and didn't get installation because I knew I could figure it out myself.

Well, it took me a bit to get the tools and wire clamps from my friend who's an electrician. But, I got them from him today and I started installing it. However, while I was messing taking out the old radio, I cut my finger pretty bad. Check it out:

What sucks is that it won't stop bleeding. Seriously, I put band-aid after band-aid on. I wrapped it in gauze. I even kept it elevated for over 30 minutes. But every time I took off the wrap, blood everywhere.

I finally wrapped it up and decided to leave it wrapped until tomorrow. Hopefully it stops bleeding by then. If not, then I'm gonna go get it looked at.

What sucks is that it's not even a deep cut. Just a big chunk of skin off the top came off while I was taking the radio out of the dashboard. So stupid. But, just my luck.

Anyway, the only thing good to come out of this day is the fact that I installed my radio and it works like a champ. Seriously, thank god something went right today. Otherwise, I would have been very upset with the outcome of today. At least it's ending with a high note. Sort of.

Yep, just waiting. That's pretty much how things go for me these days. Waiting for the weekend. Waiting for the next holiday break. Waiting for the next vacation. I'm never happy with the now. I'm always waiting for something to come my way.

Oh well, I'll tell you one thing I'm excitingly waiting for... snowboarding season. Yep, I have a couple of trips planned for this year and I can't wait! Colorado two years in a row... sweet!

Can't say I didn't see this day coming, but now that it's here, it makes me really sad. See, I've been working on Macs my whole career. I even used them in college.

For years its been said that Macs are for creatives. People who need to do real work need a PC. Well, I do real work, every day. Been doing real work for what seems like forever. And, every step of the way, it's been done on a Mac.

Well, thank you Steve Jobs. If it wasn't for your hard work, inspiration, and drive, I wouldn't be the creative person I am today. Thank you, so very much!

I think I just decided… literally just decided… that I'm going to keep this blog the same as it's always been. An avenue for me to get my feelings out.

What I need to do is figure out a way to make this as private as possible. Allow me to explain. I don't mind strangers reading this. Because, I feel like the emotions I have, people can relate to. But, I don't want people I know to see this. I don't feel like hearing them tell me, "Everything's gonna be okay, Sergio. You're a wonderful person, Sergio. Blah, blah, blah, Sergio."

I guess I didn't post as often as I anticipated. Oh well. Let's see what kind of crap has happened to me since the last time I posted. Let's begin:

1) The first weekend in my place was a disaster. Ok, maybe that's an overstatement. But it wasn't pleasant. Meaning, it wasn't pleasant when water began to pour through the vent and lighting unit in my bathroom. Turns out the guys shower above me would back up and drain into my unit whenever he took a shower. Yay! Dirty bath water all over my floor. By the way, there is still a hole in my ceiling from the developers trying to fix the problem. That was three weeks ago.

2) My girlfriend, the one that I thought would be perfect to bring home to mom, just gave me the boot this past Saturday. Not face to face. Not on the telephone. But through a text message. A text message. Let me say this one more time. A TEXT MESSAGE.

What the @$#%!

I mean come on. This is just proof that the world we live in is going to shit when one can't have a simple conversation with someone about how they think someone else is a douche bag. And I'll admit...I am a douche bag.

3) When the temperature dropped like 20 degrees last week, and everyone was turning on their heat, I wasn't. Want to know why? Because my heat wasn't working. Want to know why? Because the developers of the "no gas, all electric" building I live in failed to tell me that the HVAC system that heats my unit runs on gas. On gas. Let me say it one more time. ON GAS. And, that I have to turn on the gas myself. By setting up an account. With the gas company. Instead of it being included in my assessments. Like they said it would. On gas...what a bunch of a@!holes!

Why is it that no matter what I do, I always seem to get myself into a world of shit. Oh well. This just confirms that my life is nothing more than one bad decision after another.

When it rains...

When it rains it pours.

So I closed on my condo yesterday. But that's not the bad thing. That's the good thing. The bad thing is, everything that could possibly go wrong did. Well, not really, but it felt like it.

Anyway, here is a list of things that pissed me off about this close:

1) The seller nor the seller's lawyer attended the closing. This created many delays causing the close to take over 5 hours. That was bullshit!

2) After I closed, I went to go park my car in my new parking spot. Unfortunately, the garage door opener was broken. So I skipped parking there and went to work.

3) After work, I tried to get into my unit, but the keys didn't work. I couldn't even get into the condo that I just got done spending my entire life savings on.

4) The renters of my place in Crestwood decided they want to move in this weekend instead of next weekend. So I've been scrambling to pack my shit up and get ready to move out.

5) This is the one that was the roughest out of all. My mom was admitted into the hospital on Monday night because of headaches and memory loss. But don't worry. Fortunately, she was released today. They ran tests and found nothing wrong. I'm praying it was just stress. My father can be a bit much sometimes.

Nonetheless, it was kind of a lot to deal with in one week. Like I said, when it rains, it pours.

If I said it once, I’ve said it a million times. My life is nothing more than a series of bad decisions.

But that’s fate for you. I guess that’s why I’m destined for failure.

Why is it that the grass always seems greener on the other side. Especially when it comes to dating. If there’s nothing that pisses me off more, it’s my abilities to talk myself out of a relationship in search of something better. Something greater.

That my friends is the reason for this spontaneous post. For years I used this blog to write about how shitty my life was. How no matter what I did, I was bound to be alone. But then, something weird happened. Something unforeseen. I started feeling happy. And life, for a moment, seemed like it was going to be ok. As a result, I haven’t posted anything since November 1, 2006. Not bad if I do say so myself.

However, all good things must come to an end. And now, I’m back...with more tales of disappointment and melancholy than ever before.

Ok, if anyone knows of any copywriters looking for a job in Chicago, let me know. It's so hard finding a good writer. All the resumes I receive are either from people who have absolutely no advertising experience, or have way too much experience and want way too much money.

I hate insurance right now because they will not cover a treatment I recieved during my physical therapy on my shoulder. Now I have to cough up $520 out of my pocket to pay for it.

Plus, my shoulder is not healed. So I'm paying for something that didn't work, nor did I ask for it.
